Islands in Panama
Panama was discovered by Christopher Columbus during his fourth voyage in 1502 divides the Atlantic Ocean from the Pacific Ocean.
Panama, in the indigenous language, means “abundance of fish,” and it is no coincidence because of the wild beauty that covers the islands, the lush forests, the paradise beaches eaten by the crystal clear turquoise waters and inhabited by indigenous tribes describe this land as “panacea” for the eyes and the soul. It is impossible not to leave one’s heart there, where rhythms and sounds of nature are kings.
Panama has over 1,000 islands in the Pacific coast and Caribbean coast. Perfect for beach a road trip amongst paradise and friendly people. Some of them are home to imaginary seaside towns out of a psychedelic blue dream, most completely deserted. With the most beautiful beaches on Earth and miles of protected coral reefs, Panama’s islands and archipelagos are a scene for extraordinary marine biodiversity. Caribbean islands
Caribbean village atmosphere, Latin American rhythms, palm-fringed beaches, fresh and fragrant fruits, friendly hosts. This is what the province of Bocas del Toro on the islands of Colon, Bastimientos, Carenero, Solarte and San Cristobal in the northeastern Panama has to offer. A beautiful range of international influences can be heard in several local languages (Spanish, English, Jamaican Patois) and experienced in the colorful and vibrant streets, as well as in the cuisine. San Blas Islands
For dreamy beaches, Panama in the San Blas Islands is ideal for lifetimes of eternal peace of mind. In fact, the archipelago is made up of 378 very different islands. All covered in dense palm forests, most of which are uninhabited. Relax on the beach or snorkel to see corals, clams, crabs, starfish, turtles and reef sharks. Meet the native Guna tribe in a village of wooden huts and let yourself be enchanted by the magical atmosphere of the San Blas Islands.
Taboga Island
Isla Taboga, or Island of Flowers, is a volcanic island inhabited by rich tropical vegetation, beautiful beaches and soft sands. Located on the Pacific side of the nation’s Gulf of Panama, this majestic island is 20km from the capital and makes for a perfect day trip from Panama City. Start your journey through the beauty of the island with a hike to Cerovizia or Cerro de la Cruz. This is one of Taboga’s highest points. Next, explore the colorful and historic Spanish city with his second oldest church in the Western Hemisphere. When you’re done exploring, relax on the quiet beach or enjoy a drink at one of the nice bars of the beach.
Pearl Islands
Once a reserved destination for famous people, the Pearl Islands are now accessible to those wishing to experience the region’s tremendous authentic beauty. Las Perlas Archipelago is characterized by more than 200 islands near the Pacific coast of the Gulf of Panama, mostly deserted. Isla del Rey is the largest island, but the most popular islands are Contadora and Saboga. Which counts more than 13 beaches. White-sand beaches, snorkeling, whale watching, (rutting season from July to October) and amazingly preserved nature and marine life. It’s easy fo fall in love with the scenic beaches of the Pearl Islands. You can see huge colonies of up to 50,000 fish in the crystal clear waters. On Contadora Island, the most populated, it is possible to learn to sail and enjoy world-class fishing. Then, head to the wild Island Saboga to hike jungle trails and share with the community in the villages.
