In 15 days and 14 nights, this complete circuit connects the country’s two coasts: the canals and wildlife of Tortuguero National Park, the laid-back Caribbean beaches of Puerto Viejo, the Arenal Volcano and hot springs of La Fortuna, the Pacific sunsets of Flamingo Beach, the cloud forest of Monteverde and the famous Manuel Antonio National Park.

Details
Day 1:
Upon arrival at SJO International Airport, you will be met by our partner to take you to your hotel in the heart of San José. Discover the capital of Costa Rica and get over the jetlag.
Night in San José, breakfast included.
Day 2:
Departure from the hotel at a previously indicated time to the area of Guapiles where you will have a typical Costa Rican breakfast. We will continue our trip through banana plantations and small towns of the area before arriving at the dock where you will board the boats to navigate the Tortuguero canals to the lodge. In the afternoon you can visit the small turtle museum, the beach and the village of Tortuguero.
Night in Tortuguero National Park, full pension included.
Day 3:
During this day you will take a boat tour through the Tortuguero canals where you will have the chance to admire the wide biodiversity of the area. Then, enjoy your free time to relax at the hotel, visit the town on your own or take an optional activity. In the evening you can take a visit to see the nesting of leatherback turtles, which occurs between July and October. This excursion has an additional cost and can be booked once you are in the area.

Day 4:
After the breakfast, it’s time to leave the hotel in Tortuguero at mid-morning. We will stop for lunch in the area of Guapiles and then you will take the road to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. It will take about 2 hours and 30 minutes before arriving in the city of the Pura Vida. Settle in your hotel and enjoy its facilities.

Day 5:
Discover the multitudes of landscapes Puerto Viejo has to offer. Between paradisiac beaches, lush nature, and cute little village, we invite you to dive into this beautiful atmosphere during the day and the night. Find all our recommendations in your AZORA GUIDE.

Day 6:
Change of setting! After the breakfast, take the road to La Fortuna. You will have about 4 and a half hours to get there. Once arrived, get settled in your hotel and enjoy its facilities with a beautiful view at the Arenal Volcano.

Day 7:
After the breakfast, we suggest that you take advantage of the activities that La Fortuna offers. You can go for a walk/hike and do activities in the Arenal Volcano National Park, go to the famous waterfall and take a swim, walk through the streets of the city center or go to the Paso Salto river… La Fortuna is also well-known for its natural hot springs, feel free to try it! Day 8:
Take the road to Flamingo Beach after the breakfast. Enjoy 3 hours and 20 minutes on the road to get to the Pacific coast. Settle in your hotel and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Day 9:
Take the day to discover the area. Flamingo is conveniently located near some of Costa Rica’s most visited beaches. For example Tamarindo, a great surfing beach with many restaurants, bars and hotels – and Samara, a more natural environment. There you will also find Playa Grande, home to Las Baulas Marine Park where leatherback turtles come to lay their eggs.

Day 10 & 11:
Take the road to Monteverde, it will take around 3 and a half hours to arrive in the region of the rainbows. Take time to enjoy the facilities of your hotel and discover this new area. Day 12:
New change of setting! Take the road after the breakfast for Manuel Antonio. You will have about 4h30 of road, following the Pacific coast… Splendid landscapes will highlight the road. Settle in your hotel and discover another part of Costa Rica.

Should I choose the bus transfers or the rental car option?
Both options follow the same itinerary. The bus transfer option covers every leg of the trip with private transfers, while the rental car option includes a 4×4 with full insurance and lets you explore at your own pace; only the San José–Tortuguero section and the airport transfers remain organized for you, since Tortuguero is reached by boat. With the rental car option, the car cost is included in the package price but is payable directly to our partner upon delivery of the car.
Are meals included in the 15-day Costa Rica circuit?
Breakfast is included every day, and full pension is included during your stay in Tortuguero National Park. Elsewhere, lunches and dinners are free so you can discover local restaurants; you will find our favorite addresses in your AZORA GUIDE.
When can I see turtles nesting in Tortuguero?
The nesting of leatherback turtles in Tortuguero occurs between July and October. An evening excursion to observe it can be booked once you are in the area; it has an additional cost and is subject to local conditions.
