Discover the beautiful culture of Panama and its wonderful landscapes with the BACK TO THE FUTURE circuit. Enjoy an authentic 11-day and 10-night stay to discover the country’s most cultural places, from the colonial streets of Casco Viejo to the white sand of the Pacific islands.
The itinerary takes you from Panama City to the eco-lodge of Bayano Lake, where you sleep in a private bungalow on the water and explore the Bayano caves and the Tiger River by kayak with a local certified guide, then to the green valley of Valle de Antón and its hikes, before two relaxing days on Saboga Island, in the Pearl Islands. Two versions are available: with certified bus transfers, or with a rental car for more autonomy on the road.

Day 1:
Upon arrival at the Panama City airport, you will be met by our partner who will take you to your hotel. Settle in comfortably and enjoy the streets of Panama City. Between tall buildings and Spanish architecture, you will be surprised by the cultural richness that the capital of Panama has to offer. Day 2:
After the breakfast, take advantage of the day to discover the old streets of Casco Viejo and immerse yourself in the Panamanian culture. Find all our recommendations about what to do and where to eat in your AZORA GUIDE. If you wish, we can organize a guided tour of the Panama Canal or Panama surroundings. Feel free to have a look at the tours in Panama City and ask us for more information.

Day 3:
Take the road until your next out-of-time destination: Bayano Lake! When arrived in the meeting point with your transfer or rental car, enjoy a 20-minute boat ride to the Eco-Lodge in the middle of the lake. Settle in your private bungalow, just in time to enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Day 4:
After a local breakfast on your private terrace, discover the amazing Bayano caves and the Tiger River accompanied by your local certified guide. Enjoy an amazing walk to discover the beauty of the caves and its inhabitants (small crocodiles, bats, snakes…). But don’t worry, it’s all safe and we’re sure you’ll enjoy it! After this unforgettable walk, take place in the kayak at your disposal and follow the guide on the Tiger River, the landscapes are amazing! Depending on the water level, you may have the chance to go as far as the “natural swimming pool” of the Tiger River.

Day 5:
After spending the morning enjoying the facilities of the Lodge, enjoy a local lunch and get back to the road to head to Valle de Antón, whether in certified bus transfer or with your own rental car. You’ll have around 3 hours and 30 minutes on the road before arriving in a green paradise. Settle in your hotel and enjoy a walk in the village.

We recommend enjoying at least one sunrise in Valle de Antón before heading to Panama City. Get the best spots in your AZORA GUIDE.
After less than 3 hours of driving, you’ll arrive in the capital of Panama for one night, before going to your next destination. If you have a rental car, it is time to give it back in Panama City: everything is arranged and we will give you the exact location. If you chose to travel with transfers, you are not concerned by the previous indication: enjoy the beauty of Casco Viejo!

Day 8:
Enjoy a 2-hour boat ride to your next destination: Paradise! Welcome to the Pearl Islands, an archipelago where beauty meets tranquility. On the program: relaxing days on the white sand, enjoying clear water and amazing snorkeling spots.

Day 9:
Take the time to relax and discover the different islands of the Pearl Archipelago. The beauty of the beaches is really amazing and offer a real sensation of tranquility. Indeed, you will rarely be numerous on the beaches. It is easy to find yourself alone to enjoy their magnificence.
Various activities are available on the Pearl Archipelago. We strongly recommend whale-watching if you go between July and October. If you’re going during another season, we recommend the island tour, including the best snorkeling spots. Be careful of the fishing trips sold in the street, they can be quite disappointing. Day 10:
Take the morning to walk around the island and enjoy the hotel facilities a last time before heading back to Panama City. You will have time to enjoy the vibrant capital of Panama and its narrow architectural streets on the afternoon.

After your last night in Panama City, it’s unfortunately time to get back home. Our partner will pick you up at the hotel to get you to the airport. Have a safe flight back!

How many days does the Back to the Future circuit in Panama last?
The circuit lasts 11 days and 10 nights. You spend four nights in Casco Viejo (Panama City), two nights in a private bungalow on Bayano Lake, two nights in Valle de Antón and two nights on Saboga Island, in the Pearl Islands, before flying home on Day 11.
What is the difference between the bus transfer option and the rental car option?
Both versions follow exactly the same itinerary. With certified bus transfers, from $1,860 per person, every journey between Panama City, Bayano Lake, Valle de Antón and the Pearl Islands is organized for you, for a comfortable and smooth trip. With the rental car option, from $1,940 per person, you get a car with full cover from Day 2 to Day 7 and more autonomy on the road, before giving it back in Panama City on Day 7.
What is included in the price of the Back to the Future circuit?
Both formulas include accommodations and breakfasts, private airport pick-up and drop-off, complete pension during your stay at Bayano Lake and on Saboga Island, the Bayano Caves and Tiger River tour, the ecological walk tour on Saboga Island, your personalized AZORA GUIDE, and follow-up and assistance. The transfers are included in the bus version, while the rental car with full cover replaces them from Day 2 to Day 7 in the car version. International flights, lunches and dinners when you are not in complete pension, tips and personal expenses are not included.
What can you do at Bayano Lake in Panama?
You reach the Eco-Lodge in the middle of the lake after a 20-minute boat ride and settle into a private bungalow with a jacuzzi, in full pension. The next day, a local certified guide takes you to the Bayano caves and their inhabitants, small crocodiles, bats and snakes, then on a kayak trip along the Tiger River. Depending on the water level, you may be able to reach the natural swimming pool of the river.
Where do you sleep during this Panama circuit?
In a hotel in Casco Viejo for your nights in Panama City, in a bungalow at the Eco-Lodge in the middle of Bayano Lake, in a hotel in Valle de Antón, and in a lodge on Saboga Island where kayak, paddle and pool are at your disposal.
Is it possible to see whales in the Pearl Islands?
Whale-watching is strongly recommended if you travel between July and October. Outside that period, we suggest the island tour, which includes the best snorkeling spots of the archipelago. Be careful with the fishing trips sold in the street, as they can be quite disappointing.
How long are the journeys between each stage of the itinerary?

Is this circuit more cultural than a beach holiday in Panama?
It combines both. The first days are dedicated to culture and nature, with the old streets of Casco Viejo, an optional guided tour of the Panama Canal, the Bayano caves with a local guide and the hikes around Valle de Antón, before two full days of relaxation on the white sand of the Pearl Islands. You can also add tours in Panama City to the itinerary.
When is the best time to travel to Panama?
The dry season, from December to April, is the high season, with minimal rainfall and predominantly sunny and warm weather, ideal for outdoor activities and beach days. May, June, September and October are the low season, with frequent but short tropical showers. July, August and November offer lush green landscapes, vibrant flora and fauna and reduced tourist crowds, and they also correspond to the whale-watching season in the Pearl Islands.
