Details

Day 1:

Upon arrival at the San José airport (SJO), you will be met by our partner who will take you to your hotel. Feel free to read the recommendations and suggestions on the best spots to explore and hang out in your AZORA GUIDE.

Night in San José, breakfast included.

Day 2:

Departure from the hotel at a previously indicated time (around 6.30am) to the area of Guapiles where you will have a typical Costa Rican breakfast. You will continue your trip through banana plantations and small towns of the area. Then, you will arrive at the dock where your boat awaits you to navigate the Tortuguero canals for the first time…

In the afternoon you can enjoy the pool of the lodge, the beach and/or the village of Tortuguero and turtle museum. A tasty dinner of your choice will be served for you at the lodge in the evening.

If you wish and that it is the right season, we can organize the famous nesting turtles observation. Feel free to ask us for more information.

Night in Tortuguero, full pension included.

Day 3:

During this day you will take a boat tour through the Tortuguero canals where you will have the chance to admire the wide biodiversity of this prehistoric area. A real Jurassic Park experience with monkeys, iguanas, crocodiles, sloth and many more animals instead of dinosaurs…

Then, enjoy your free time to relax at the hotel, visit the town on your own or take an optional activity.

After the dinner at the lodge – and as previously mentioned – you can take an optional excursion to see the nesting of leatherback turtles, which occurs between July and October. We can take care of the booking or you can directly book with our partner once you are in the area.

Night in Tortuguero, full pension included.

Day 4:

After the breakfast, it’s time to leave your lodge in Tortuguero. The boat will bring you back where the Tortuguero adventure started… From there, you will have a transfer to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, also on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. The travel will take around 2 hours and 30 minutes before arriving in the city of the Pura Vida. Settle in comfortably in your hotel and enjoy the facilities and peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding nature.

Day 5 & 6:

After a local healthy and complete breakfast, discover the tropical landscapes Puerto Viejo has to offer. Between paradisiac beaches, luxurious nature, and cute little village, it’s a fantastic out-of-time place to reconnect and relax on wonderful beaches and/or do some activities if you feel like it. It is very easy to fell in love with this Caribbean coast that goes from Cahuita to Manzanillo. Indeed, many Europeans, Canadians and Americans came here for holidays years ago and never went completely back home!

Nights in Puerto Viejo, breakfasts included.

Day 7 to 9:

After an early breakfast, it’s time to get on your way to paradise! A bus transfer will collect you at your hotel in Puerto Viejo and take you to Almirante, Panama. From there, the aquatic Caribbean adventure starts: a boat will take you to the archipelago of Bocas del Toro. Arrive in Bocas Town, the main city of Bocas del Toro. Here, you will easily find a boat the will bring you to your lodge on Bastimentos Island. It’s time to disconnect and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the unique Red Frog Beach.

On the menu: paradise beach, turquoise water and fish… A lazy evening to recharge your batteries between tropical forest and white sand. We also advise you to take advantage of your presence on the Bastimentos Island to discover the village “Old Bank” on the next days if you feel like it. This is where the Afro-Caribbean community of Bocas del Toro lives, the visit of the village is definitely worth it.

Nights in Bastimentos Island (Bocas del Toro), breakfasts included.

Day 10 to 12:

Ready to discover another landscape of Bocas? Go to the heart of Bocas Town. Take advantage of your hotel’s great facilities and discover the vibrant atmosphere of the town. If not already done in the previous days, we advise you to spend the afternoon on the opposite island: Carenero. At only 1min of taxi-boat (1$ per person one-way outward journey), you will arrive on a splendid small piece of sand. Here, you can walk all around the island in about 1 hour. You’ll find great spots to lounge by the clear water. Great restaurants are at your disposal all around, see our suggestions in your AZORA GUIDE.

On day 10, departure at 9:30am from the hotel direction the reserve of Bahia Honda where you can observe dolphins and sloths. You will take advantage of this excursion to Zapatilla island to snorkel, observe the corals and many fishes. Grab your local lunch and sail with your guide to a magical “Robinson Crusoe” landscape. Enjoy a few hours on the uninhabited island and swim in the clear water… A real wonder for the eyes.

Nights in the center of Bocas Town (Bocas del Toro), breakfasts included.

Day 13 & 14:

Take the morning to walk around the center of Bocas and enjoy the hotel facilities before heading back to the small Caribbean town of Cahuita, Costa Rica. You will have time to enjoy again the vibrant Caribbean coast on the Costa Rican side in the evening. Cahuita National Park and its beaches are definitely worse it. If you want to we can arrange a kayak or snorkeling excursion in Punta Uva on day 13, and even extend your stay in Cahuita while organizing your trip.

Day 15:

Time to go back… Enjoy your breakfast and take a dive before heading back to San José. As always during your Caribbean journey, your transfer will pick you up directly at your lodge in Cahuita and drop you off at your hotel in San José where you will spend your last night.

Day 16:

Depending on the schedule of your flight back, you will have the time to take the breakfast before to get your transfer to SJO International Airport. You will meet your driver directly at the reception of the hotel, and he will drop you off at the right Terminal. Have a safe flight back!
